Dreams of My Father by Barack Obama, 1995, Excerpt

I went to Harvard Law School. The study of law can be disappointing at times, a matter of applying narrow rules and arcane procedure to an uncooperative reality; a sort of glorified accounting that serves to regulate the affairs of those who have power – and that all too often seeks to explains, to those who do not, the ultimate wisdom and justness of their condition.

Hmm, there seems to be a hint of Howard Zinn influence….

Howard Zinn: When economic interest is seen behind the political clauses of the Constitution, then the document becomes not simply the work of wise men trying to establish a decent and orderly society, but the work of certain groups trying to maintain their privileges, while giving just enough rights and liberties to enough of the people to ensure popular support. The American system is the most ingenious system of control in world history.

Now, fast forward 11 years to 2006, and Obama the Senator now gives divinational powers to the Founding Fathers.

The Audacity of Hope by Barack Obama, 2006, Excerpts

I’ve often wondered whether the Founders themselves recognized at the time the scope of their accomplishment. They didn’t simply design the Constitution in the wake of revolution; they wrote the Federalist Papers to support it, shepherded the document through ratification, and amended it with the Bill of Rights – all in the span of a few short years. As we read these documents, they seem so incredibly right that it’s easy to believe they are the result of natural law if not divine inspiration.

Wow!
