Re: Circumcision as a Disease Curative and Distinction of Class
by Anonymous
The above essay argues a conclusion I reached on my own decades ago: a circumcised USA Gentile was seen as having been born into a family with money, education, sophistication, savoir vivre. The foreskin was seen as dirty, smelly, and downright uncool. The number of native born uncut penises I saw in high school and college locker rooms a generation ago I could count on one hand. In those days, the uncut must have been one or more of black, Latino, or poor. Since 1980, the American foreskin has made a gradual and difficult comeback. Even so, nearly 3/5 of American boy babies are still cut at birth. In Canada, it's less than 1 in 10.
